Axel Press
The axle press is an Olympic weightlifting exercise that involves lifting a bar from the ground to overhead. It's similar to the clean and jerk, but with fewer rules. The exercise is named after the axle bar used, which is thicker in diameter than a standard barbell and has no knurl marks. Here are some tips for performing an axle press: Grip The axle bar's thicker diameter makes it harder to grip, which can help improve forearm strength. Leg positioning Bring your front leg back halfway and your back leg forward halfway to keep the bar stable overhead. Practice other Olympic lifts The extension, jump, and catch in a clean are also relevant to other Olympic lifts, such as the log clean, sandbag throwing, Atlas stones, and tire flips. The axle press can be performed with a rotating or non-rotating bar. If you don't have access to an axle bar, you can use a standard Olympic barbell with fat gripz to practice the same movements.
